National Institute of Standards & Technology

ISI provided the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) with all products and labor for the installation of a new communications cabling infrastructure. The installation involved:

• Category 5 Cabling System. Installed and tested 1500 CAT-5 UTP cables distributed in four different NIST. All of the cabling and patching equipment were Lucent SYSTIMAX. The cable plant is not only certified to support data rates of 622 Mbps at a length of 100 meters, but is warranted for a minimum of 15 years against any failures.

• Fiber Optic Cabling System. Installed and tested fiber optic backbone segments between five buildings. Indoor and partial outdoor runs consisted of twelve multimode fibers and four single mode fibers. Moved and re-terminated fiber optic backbone segments, in new service access points, in three locations.
